Conference of the Birds
Very early in the morning, these four goldfinches were perched on top of the feeder pole waiting for someone to put out their breakfast! It seems to be a family with Mom on the right, then a juvenile, then Dad, and then another young one on the left. The low sun rays from the early day light illuminated the group while keeping the background trees in darkness.

This note card features a ruffed grouse peering down from a tree branch, although usually grouse spend their time on the ground. When surprised, they explode into flight, beating their wings loudly. There are ruffs are on the sides of the neck and a crest on top of the head. The feathers are a wonderful pattern of brown, white, orange and gold. Green leaves in the background set off the lovely brownish tones.

This poster features two migrating Canada Geese sitting on a log in a shallow pond. Their brown, black and white markings are reflected in the water. The water ripples create a fascinating vertical pattern of reflected tree trunks. I have digitally enhanced my original photograph to create a watercolor effect.

Duck and Gull Motivational Poster

"The Pursuit of Happiness" by Val Brackenridge

An adorable little Merganser Duck flees for his life with his freshly caught fish as a determined Gull chases him for his lunch. The Merganser Duck was so thrilled over his fishing skills and the Gull was equally thrilled that he didn't have to fish at all. He just has to take the fish away from the Merganser and continue on his merry way.

Hyacinth Macaw is from one of my original digital art paintings. This colorful parrot portrait using red, oranges and green is sure to delight any avid bird or wildlife lover.
The Hyacinth Macaw's historical range included a large area of northeastern, central and southwestern Brazil, eastern Bolivia and northeastern Paraguay. The hyacinth macaw is the largest macaw and the largest flying parrot species in the world. Known as "gentle giants", the Hyacinths are very affectionate birds by nature.

Red-breasted Nuthatch by Bebops

This magnet features a Red-breasted Nuthatch who looks like he is taking charge! He is a very small bird with a rust colored breast, blue-gray back and a black eye stripe. His head and beak are very large in proportion to his body. The nuthatches are permanent, year round inhabitants of our part of upstate New York. They forage on the trunks and large branches of trees, often descending head first, sometimes catching insects in flight. They mainly eat insects and seeds. Their call is like a tin trumpet.

The Red-bellied Woodpecker is a medium-sized woodpecker. It breeds in southern Canada and the northeastern United States, but can range as far south as Florida and as far west as Texas. Its common name is somewhat misleading, as the most prominent red part of its plumage is on the head! Here he is perched on a cake of suet.

A brilliant red Northern Cardinal is eating sunflower seeds during a snow storm. I took this photo through my back window on an incredibly cold and wintry day in upstate New York. The cardinals live here all year round. We enjoy their lovely singing and gorgeous colors. By mid-summer, they are bringing their babies to the feeding stations to teach them where they can get seed next winter.
