Very early in the morning, these four goldfinches were perched on top of the feeder pole waiting for someone to put out their breakfast! It seems to be a family with Mom on the right, then a juvenile, then Dad, and then another young one on the left. The low sun rays from the early day light illuminated the group while keeping the background trees in darkness.

Here's a sweet friendship card. An adorable baby house finch is perched on the edge of a rail, just watching the world go by. Food is hanging from the beak. It is hard to tell if this young bird is a male or female. Color will develop later in the summer. For now, the feathers are shades of brown and gold, with darker streaks.on the soft, fluffy underparts.

Some winters a huge flock of redpolls arrive in our neck of the woods in upstate New York. They are such tiny, little creatures! I took these photos out the window during a snow storm and had a bit of fun devising this card with two redpolls dreaming of spring.
