These birds are painted homing pigeons, which are painted different colours by the owners so that they can identify them in flight. This is a local tradition in Spain and the owners assure me that the paint does the birds no harm!

This particular photograph was a bit of a fluke really as my wife and I were on the local mountainside (more of a large hill really!) when the birds flew overhead. They looked so pretty in flight. I think they look beautiful with the sea in the background.

This poster features a female ruby-throated hummingbird. She hovers in the air while drinking nectar from the golden center of a bright red zinnia flower. A yellow zinnia blossom is nearby. The colors seem brilliant against the background of green leaves and dark shadows.
