Send a special congratulations to pregnant friends and family members with this fully customizable greeting card which has the words "A little bird told us!" on the cover followed by "It's time to add more twigs, layer it with down & make sure your nest is ready for your new arrival. Congratulations on the wonderful news!" on the inside. The name ‘cormorant’ has been derived from the Latin words ‘Corvus Marinus’, which means ‘marine crow’ or ‘sea raven’. Cormorants are also known as shags in some parts of the world. They have slender, sharp, hooked beaks which can give a nasty bite; a patch of bare skin under the mouth; and a stiff tail. All the four toes on each foot are webbed, which facilitates them in swimming and chasing fish underwater. An interesting fact is that Cormorants are used by fishermen in Asia to prevent other birds from grabbing their catch.

The Lesser Striped Swallow - latin name: Hirunda Abyssinica - builds a bowl-shaped mud nest with a tubular entrance on the underside of a suitable structure. The nest has a soft lining, and may be reused in later years. This particular one gave us many hours of joy as we watched her scooping mud from a river bank and flying back to add it to her nest, which she'd built around one of the ceiling lights at the lodge we were staying at in Botswana, Africa. If you've just found out that someone special you know is pregnant, then this pregnancy card is ideal. The wording on the cover says - "A little bird told us!" and inside "It's time to add more mud, layer it with down & make sure your nest is ready for your new arrival. Congratulations on the wonderful news!" Feel free to customize the wording to suit the event

Sparrowhawk and Prey by Welshpixels

The sparrowhawk is a secretive and solitary hunter. It favours woodland where it hunts along the woodland edges and clearings. It is highly manoeverable. It usually takes small birds such as chaffinch, yellowhammer and great tit. This is a male and has just caught a moorhen. Quarry is eaten on the ground or on a stump, the hawk standing with both feet on its victim, drooping wings to form a tent and spreading its tail as if to give support. As seen here. I'm happy to say it survived.

White Crowned Song Sparrows are the most abundant and widespread wild bird in backyards and small shrubbed areas across North America. They are also one of the easiest birds to identify. The white-crowned sparrow sings with a high whistle and buzz call that may be heard at any time of day and even into the night, particularly when males are singing to claim territory.

This is one of my photo note cards of wild birds. This is a Myrtle Warbler, also known as the Yellow-Rumped Warbler for reasons that should be obvious in the photo. The yellow is most pronounced in flight. This beautiful, southern wild bird is elusive, and I have to lie in wait to get a good close up of this feathered friend.
