Blackbird Keychain by Bebops

This red-winged blackbird keychain will keep your keys together. They are one of the first migraters to arrive here in upstate New York in early spring and stay until late fall. They settle in at our pond and nest in the cattails. While the eggs are in the nests and when the young are just venturing out, the adults are fierce protectors of their territory. As we walk around the pond, they fly past us trying to divert our attention, squawking all the time. The male is all black with a red shoulder and yellow wing bar, while the female is dark brown. Seeds and insects are their main foods.
