The White-breasted Cormorant is the largest of the cormorant species. They have a distinctive white throat and chest with a glossy brown or green – black body. Their beaks are black above and tan below. The skin on their lores is yellow with the gular pouch being dark green. They have black feet and legs and green eyes. They are mainly aquatic and at the coast they can be found at coastal rocks and cliffs, off shore islands, near reefs and at estuaries. Inland they can be found at large water bodies such as dams and impoundments, streams and rivers. They feed on Clinidae fish, crustaceans and molluscs. Inland they feed on fresh water fish species, frogs and crabs. They are a common or localized resident and are not globally threatened.
