Well this year is going so quickly, it's not much of a summer but I did manage a lovely day out with the puffins last month. I did get soaked even though the weatherman said it was going to be a dry day - ah well, it was a lovely day out none the less. These little puffins are always on alert. there are so many predators that they have to watch out for. This puffin was just about to go down it's burrow and was having a last glance around before he went down.

Puffin Auk on Skomer Island

Puffins start to arrive back on Skomer Island off the Pembrokeshire coastline at the end of March. They set about lining their burrows with grasses and vegetation ready for egg laying and rearing of their one and only puffling baby.
